Life Statistics
Ht: 5'5"/165cm
Wt: 118lbs/53.5kg
Birthdate/Place: 1147 AD, Prague, Holy German Kingdom
Personality: The perfect summation: "Arrogant elitist bitch."
Where the arrogance came from, only she knows. Katarina is extremely proud of who and what she is, preferring to spurn the "self-loathing pity-me vampire" image she lived out in her first century of (un)life and that later became popular in vampire literature in the 20th century. Her cold intelligence both belies and betrays her sadistic and capricious nature, most often hidden perfectly behind a serene facade honed over centuries.
Despite being in possession of traits and a diagnosis from three psychiatrists that would normally frighten off any sensible individual, the theatrical Katarina is an expert manipulator with an empathetic ability to aid her in tweaking her performance just so, in order to produce the desired effect. Be it playing the victim or in the role of the merciless head of the 'family', she is a prime actor and a fantastic diplomat as a result.
However, her arrogance is also her chief weakness. "The bigger they are, the harder they fall," applies itself perfectly to her ego. It has led her to make dire mistakes in the past which have resulted in near-disasters she has either had to avert or cover up, as well as to more than a few enemies. Some of which are within her clan.
But all in all, she is a self-serving parasite, as she herself has acknowledged of many intended insults. As she herself would say, "Why deny the truth when you can own it?"
Biography Summary: Born Katharine Schneider in 1147 AD, just outside of Prague in the Holy German Kingdom. She was married off to a noble shortly before he joined the Crusades, and before having the chance to birth any children, fell to a marauding rogue of the Acheron lineage at 23. Ten years she and her sire, Ulrich, wandered Europe, avoiding being pinned down by the Acheron coven's 'fingers'.
But it wasn't to last. They were finally pinned and taken upon 'going to ground' in an abandoned peasant house. Ulrich's fate was never revealed to her, but Kat was brought into the fold by the interest of the reigning Elder. The first century or so Kat rarely speaks of.
That is, until a near-rape incident in the late-13th/early-14th century, to which she attributes the rise of her sadism and intrigue in human anatomy. Following the deterrence of her assailant, she was permitted personal revenge (possibly likely for the Elder's amusement) against the selfsame man with all the crude surgical tools of the time at her disposal. Modern-day reminiscings see her recall the vengeful act quite fondly. Katharine later spent several decades playing the part of the clan's interrogator, torturer, and executioner.
As does befall all who are or were once human, even she once loved with her entire being, despite being night-walking predator. However, she recalls this phenomenon only twice, with the exclusion of her Crusader husband. After the second one was blown to smithereens (the date and details of which she will not release), she decided that she wanted nothing more to do with the pain that love brought, and became celibate. It was after this that she dropped the old name 'Katharine' and took on the modernized derivative, 'Katarina'.
Kat finally rose to power in her later 5th century of existence. In concurrence with the Laws, she defeated her predecessor and laid him to eternal rest, cremating his body to ensure his passing. With her post came the contract and infallible loyalty of the clan's butler, the retraining of the then-loose-cannon Sicilian mafioso, and the burden of mediating all issues vampiric so to keep their presence obscured. Thus she has reigned.
*Spoiler*
A future timeline will witness Katarina's fall from power and subsequent century-long hibernation beneath the depths of the Atlantic, off the coast of St. Augustine, FL. Following her 'resurrection' of sorts, she will vow a vengeance upon the head of her usurper, known to Kat and her allies as "The Mad King of Acherus". She will spend years plotting his demise; whether to succeed or fail, the author is yet unsure. All that is certain are the trials and tribulations of dethroning a mad king.
