Life Statistics
Ht: 5'0"/152cm
Wt: 111lbs/50kg
Birthdate/Place: 1652 AD, now Thurgau Canton, Switzerland
Personality: Cocky and confident Circe is the lean, mean, hunting machine of Acheron. She takes a certain pride in being what her boss calls 'one of, if not the finest, agents' in the clan. To superiors, she's concise, precise, and polite; to trainees under her tutelage, she's a drill sergeant and smartass not to be taken lightly. To superiors she's on informal/first name/nickname terms with, some of the smartassery shines through, but in this case it would be a joke rather than a weeding-out comment.
On her flip side, she's a touch paranoid and more than a bit of a second-guesser. She has a tendency to latch on to important people in her life, desiring their approval or sometimes just their friendship. Circe has some abandonment issues; she will suffer blows to her self-esteem if someone she respects or admires up and leaves her without giving an explanation. She also hides a severe condition of PTSD triggered by the sight, sound, and/or smell of fire or burning flesh, and/or the sight or sound of chain. When triggered, she will attempt to flee the area, crying out in psychosomatic pain. If unable to make an escape, she will fight in a very defensive pattern. The only ways to snap her out of it are for a well-recognized comrade or superior to do so, or to douse her in water.
As such, it's considered priority to keep her out of situations that trigger her PTSD.
Biography Summary: Selina was born to nomadic parents as they were passing through Thurgau, but fate twisted her life early in infancy so that she was raised by the Swiss family of Raisch. She knows little of what happened to her biological parents, other than they simply disappeared.
As a child, Selina was the one hiding in the back of the group, the one following cats into alleyways and wild animals into their forest hovels. She doesn't recall why, but she recalls feeling that she didn't belong and needed to hide. And she became brilliant at it, to a point where her adoptive family would simply just let her come back of her own accord instead of searching for her.
There was one night she remembers as vividly as if it were yesterday, where a dark shadow descended upon her in the pre-dawn night and took her blood while whispering a soft incantation. However, the sun rose, the cock crowed, and the shadow spooked and whisked away. She remembers laying on the ground for hours, too dizzy and breathless to do much else. And that being near holy symbols caused her pain enough to drive her away from them. Not that the village understood that. Its people rounded upon her to "cast out the demon" that they envisioned possessed her. It was horrifying and excruciating, what they had done to her. She was nearing a comatose state when another shadow, seeming benevolent, asked her if she desired to end her pain and join a more supportive family. Selina accepted before passing into unconsciousness.
She awakened to find herself vampire. The usual mental turmoil ensued, but once she came to terms around her first century mark, she started discovering her talents. She was extremely adept at stealth and tracking; skills she had learned as a child, but so much more honed despite that she had not done any of that since her younger years. Her sire, a trusted higher-up in the clan, offered the theory of a tainted turn, explaining that a Damned had been the one to have initially descended upon her and gotten a part of its Curse on her. What that meant to her she had no idea until Katarina's delving into the subject. It meant she had the amplified base skills from her humanity thanks to what part of the Curse had been bestowed her, but no other powers than what the Virus naturally caused.
It has made her the finest agent in Acheron, nigh impossible to track and detect except by shadowmancers' detect spells.
